GEFCU IS OFFERING A SCHOLARSHIP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW YORK CREDIT UNION ASSOCIATION (NYCUA).
WHO IS AN ELIGIBLE APPLICANT?
- The applicant MUST be a member in good standing of GEFCU.
- The member is a college-bound high school senior at the time of application.
- The member is attending college for the first time in the fall of 2023.
- The member will be enrolled in either a two or four-year accredited educational institution.
- The member agrees to use any scholarship funds awarded by January 31, 2024, at an accredited educational institution only.
GEFCU APPLICANT INFORMATION
- Download the Scholarship Application.
- Once the application is completed, please call or stop by a branch and ask for the GEFCU credit union verification code.
- Follow the application process detailed in How Do I Apply Section Below.
IMPORTANT DATES
January 7th, 2023: Deadline for students to submit NYCUA application.
May 2023: GEFCU will notify winners and award scholarships.
HOW DO I APPLY?
- Save and complete the 2023 Scholarship Application (781 KB).
- Call GEFCU at 716.662.1311 to obtain our Credit Union Verification Code to verify your eligibility.
- Have your parent or guardian complete the Certification and Release Authorization on the last page of the application.
- Please save your: Scholarship Application, High School Transcript, and Essay as 3 separate documents (PDF or Word Doc)
- Submit your application, high school transcript and essay here: Application Submission Link.
- You must complete all of the required information and upload all of the required documents BEFORE clicking save. Once you click save, you will not be able to go back and add or edit your submission.
- Please fill out your name and email address for both the "Nominee" and "Nominated By" sections.
- Please disregard the Reasons for Nomination section.
- When your application has been successfully submitted, you will see the message "Nomination successfully saved."
Please read through the instructions carefully! If any portion of the application is missing or incomplete, the application will NOT be considered.
**Please note: If you are submitting an application through more than one credit union, you will need to complete the process for each individual credit union.**

Charlotte Ash Community Leader Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded to an Orchard Park High School graduating senior in good academic standing, and is named in honor of one of our founding members of the credit union, Charlotte Ash. It recognizes a student that exhibits strong leadership abilities and commitment to the community.
Orchard Park High School students can apply through the OPHS Universal Scholarship Application available through the high school guidance department. The scholarship is released in the spring of each year.
Students interested in applying for the Charlotte Ash Community Leader Scholarship MUST:
- Be a member of Great Erie Federal Credit Union
- Be an enrolled high school senior at Orchard Park High School
Applications will be reviewed and awarded in May 2023.
