REPORTED AMAZON TELEPHONE SCAM

Great Erie FCU has been informed of a reported telephone scam involving persons posing as Amazon employees, or falsely claiming to represent the company, while soliciting the opportunity to become collection agents on behalf of the company.

The caller states they are from Amazon and inquire about a package for delivery and an amount owing on these packages/delivery. Amazon has no involvement with these fraudulent practices and does not make such solicitations.

Do not respond to these telephone calls or communicate with the sender. 

DO NOT PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL AND/OR FINANCIAL /BANKING INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. 

It's important to report phone scams to federal agencies. They can't investigate cases, but your report can help them collect evidence for lawsuits against scammers. Report telephone scams online to the Federal Trade Commission. You can also call 1-877-382-4357. The FTC is the primary government agency that collects scam complaints. 

For more help in resolving consumer issues, you can report scams to your state consumer protection office.
